This issue provides some answers to a number of questions about the future of television, a complex and ever-emerging theme. Some scientists insist on the idea that television - in its current state - has no future compared to the Internet. Other scientists consider the Internet a complement to television and not an imminent danger. Television creates identity. It plays an important role in political communication and in particular in electoral campaigns. The challenge launched by this issue - a challenge legitimated by the great geographical diversity of the contributions - also highlights the intercultural side of the theme. Despite the influence of the Internet, research conducted in recent decades shows that there are still preferences for television whose roles differ from one region or country or place to another.
