Abstract

The objective of this research is to study how Tunisian journalists think about the use of AI in their profession. This work is based on a qualitative study conducted in 2024 through 21 interviews with journalistic professionals in Tunisia. The results highlight the clear evidence that the integration of AI into Tunisian journalism is inevitable. Tunisian journalists are at different stages of integrating AI into their work and have mixed opinions about this new technology. Therefore, to ensure that AI does not become a threat and a liability, but rather a valuable tool that will aid Tunisian journalism, the journalistic community should create clear guidelines and standards that help ensure the responsible, reliable, effective, and ethical use of AI.
