Main Article Content
Abstract
This article examines the online mediatization of justice in Romania. It focuses on how social media users engage and shape the discourse on justice-related issues. Using a mixed methodology consisting of a content analysis of social media posts and a survey of online engagement patterns, the study highlights the diversity of justice narratives and the important role that social media plays in shaping public opinion and facilitating social change. The analysis reveals that social media users in Romania are building the online conversation around justice, notably by sharing news articles and personal stories, using hashtags and memes, and organizing online campaigns and petitions. This research also identifies some key themes that emerge in justice discourses on social media, such as corruption, police brutality, and human rights violations. The article highlights the growing importance of social media in the mediatization of justice in Romania and underlines the need for critical reflection on the ethical and professional implications of the use of these media in the justice context. While social media provide a powerful platform for amplifying voices and mobilizing communities, they also raise concerns about the accuracy and reliability of information, the potential for online harassment and censorship, and their impact on traditional forms of democratic participation.
