Abstract
This research note aims to provide an analysis of how the web documentary, a media tool, succeeds, by using visual storytelling, interactivity and emotional messages, in involving the public in the debate on gender. Womanhood, Egyptian Kaleidoscope, an interactive web documentary, is studied through the visual stories of fifteen Egyptian women in a qualitative approach. Methodologically, direct observation applied to the case study and analysis of interactive content were chosen. In terms of results, the most important aspect to highlight is that this type of interactive mediatization tool opens a place for the debate in the media public sphere, a debate which brings together a diversity of sensitivities without putting them in conflict, particularly when it is about the conflict between media representations of tradition and contemporary ones.
